Dorothy Irene Palys

Dorothy Ahern Palys, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on April 14, 1932, she was the cherished daughter of Margaret and Daniel Ahern and the youngest sister to Bert, Peg, Danny, and Bob, all of whom preceded her in death.

Dorothy's life was marked by her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was married to her devoted husband, Joseph Palys Jr., for 59 wonderful years before his passing in 2012. Dorothy was the loving mother of two sons, Joseph Palys III and his wife Suzanne, and Thomas Palys and his wife Regina. Dorothy’s legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Margaret, Mary, Anita, Tori, Josh, Rosemary, and Michael. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held with a block of time for visitors at New Britain Memorial Home-Donald Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain on Monday, August 26, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 27, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church 1755 Stanley St., New Britain. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Following the mass, Dorothy will be interred at the Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown at noon.

Dorothy’s family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have shared in their loss and invite all who knew her to join in honoring her remarkable life. She will be remembered for her love, compassion, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
