

Elizabeth Marie Slade-DiPietro (Gendron), age 86, passed from this life surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Elizabeth was born in St. Hugues, Quebec, Canada to parents, Raymond and Augustine (Bourgeault) Gendron on December 21, 1931. The fourth of six children, she came to Connecticut in 1945 and lived most of her life in New Britain, CT, only recently moving to Simsbury.
Elizabeth was a warm and lighthearted woman who shared her optimistic energy with all whom she encountered. Working as a waitress for many years, (Avon Old Farms Inn and East Side Restaurants) Elizabeth loved to work with those wanting to enjoy a pleasurable meal with family and friends. She saw herself as a participant in their experience by providing the best service she could. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, watching game shows, doing crosswords and of course watching the lady UCONN Huskies.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her first husband William Slade Jr and daughter Patty-Ann Slade. Also predeceased by her second husband Joseph W. DiPietro, Elizabeth is survived by her children Michael D Slade of Plantsville, William J Slade III of Bristol and his partner Darlene Berlinski, Susan K Slade of Meredith NH and her partner Todd Hall, JoAnne DiPietro Chase and her husband Steven Chase of Simsbury and Betty-Anne DiPietro Lewis and husband Edward Lewis of Clover SC. She leaves five beloved grandchildren; Meagan E Lewis, David T Lewis, Andrew S Chase, Morgan G Slade and Adam J Chase. She also leaves two young men whom she had come to love as much as her own grandchildren, Daniel Berlinski and Robert Berlinski.
Liz will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff of John Dempsey Hospital and Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
A time of visitation will be held Monday morning from 8:00 to 9:30am at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by her Memorial Mass at 10:00AM in Holy Cross Church. Burial will be at a later date.
