

He was born in New Britain, CT and had been a resident of New Britain for 29 years before moving to Florida 11 years ago. He was educated in the culinary arts in Farmington, CT and was employed as a chef in various local restaurants and more recently as a bartender West End Pub in Florida as well as others establishments for 18 years.
He was a member of St. Maurice Church where he was an altar boy, sang in the church choir and was in church plays in his youth. He was on the New Britain High School Football team and in the show choir and madrigals. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Red Sox, fishing, movies, family and had a heart that was tender and warm. He felt deeply the emotional bumps of his life. He was called “Champ” by Dad in honor of his namesake Jerry Varri, his granddad, a pugilistic power in New Britain in the 30’s. Jerry is survived and will be dearly missed by: Father John Varricchione and step mother Agatha Varricchione, Sisters Angeline Glanville and brother in law William Glanville of Plainville, Brother Johnny Vincent Varricchione of Farmington, Sister Melanie Varricchione of Farmington, Sister Alison Pompei and brother in law James Pompei of Bristol. Grandmother Angeline Varricchione of Plainville. Nieces and nephew Sophia Glanville, Santino Pompei and Sarina Pompei, His Uncle Felix Varrichione and Aunta Taisa of Southington and cousins Mark, Sonja and Esther and will be missed especially by the family of his Aunt Rose and Uncle John Pompile, and Cousins Tony, Maria and Domenic who shared many memories with Jerry. He was pre-deceased by mother Susan C. Russell.
Jerry was a sweet man who left too soon because we all wanted him to be in our lives longer. He will be missed tremendously by all but his smile will live on in our hearts forever.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011, relatives and friends may call 4-7pm at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain,CT. Jerry was a sweet man who left too soon because we all wanted him to be in our lives longer. He will be missed tremendously by all, but his smile will live on in our hearts forever.
