Genowefa Chochlinski

Genowefa Chochlinski, 89, passed away Jan 3, 2023, at home, with her family by her side. Genowefa was a loved wife of Jan Chochlinski and the daughter of Stefan Karpiel and Mary Karpiel (Lagosz). She was a wonderful mother of 6 children, grandmother of 7 grandchildren and great grandmother of 5 great grandchildren. She was a kind and loving soul.

She will be missed by her children, Halina Merchel and husband George of Farmington, William Chochlinski and Becky of New Britain, Stacey Ahern and husband Robert Jr. of Kensington, Janina Russo and husband Paul of Kensington, and James Chochlinski and wife Krystyna of Bristol.

She leaves her cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Grayson) Chochlinski, David Russo, Jennifer (Kevin) Gadomski, Paul Russo Jr., Gregory (Sara) Merchel, Robert (Jennifer) Ahern III, Jack (Elena) Russo.

She leaves her precious great grandchildren, Kody Gadomski, Theodore, Archie and Oliver Merchel and Angelo Russo.

She was predeceased by her husband Jan, her son Richard, and her parents Stefan and Mary Karpiel.

She was born in Poland and became a lifelong resident of New Britain. She was employed by Stanley Works for many years until retirement. She enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and after retiring taking care of her cat Lucia.

Calling hours for Genowefa will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 at New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A brief gathering prior to church will occur Monday, January 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial Sacred Heart Church will occur Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery will occur Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
