George was born on May 22, 1954 in Puerto Rico and was son to the late Emilio Arroyo Maisonet and Ana Nieves Montero. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed by Yale-New Haven Hospital for 19 years.
George was hardworking and private at the same time. He was very talented artistically and enjoyed painting, drawing, sculpting as well as music and dancing.
He will be most remembered for his smile, laughter, and sense of humor. He loved to joke and clown around. Making people laugh brought him joy. He was an excellent dresser and anyone who knew him knows his love for hats. You could catch him wearing one of them on any given day. When he sported his Indiana Jones hat, he would also don a vest for completion sake. He also is remembered for how he liked to celebrate his shared birthday month with brother Frank.
He is predeceased by his oldest brother Emilio "Bert" Maisonet whose wife June still resides in Bennington, VT.
He is survived by his siblings: Jose Maisonet and his wife, Nancy of East Haven, Robert Maisonet and his fiancee Julie Annunziata both of New Haven, David Maisonet of Vernon, Frank Maisonet of New Britain and Sandra Maisonet of Bennington, VT, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited, Sunday, March 20th, 2016, for a time of visitation from 1pm to 2pm with a Service of Remembrance that will follow at 2pm. George will be laid to rest at the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, with military honors, at a later date. For directions or online messages, please visit www.newbritainsagarino.com.
