Jadwiga Rutkowska

Jadwiga (Strzelecka) Rutkowska, 90, widow of Jan Rutkowski, of New Britain, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Jan Rutkowski, in 1996. Jadzia was born in Poland on April 6, 1920 to Antoni and Anna (Chrostowska) Strzelecka and moved to New Britain with her husband in 1964. She was formerly employed by Atlantic Machine Tool and retired from the Hospital of Central Connecticut after many years of service. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Ladies Guild and Rosary Society.

Her greatest joys were raising her children and spending time with her cherished grandchildren. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived and will be dearly missed by her two sons; Jan Rutkowski and his wife Janina of Florida and Antoni Rutkowski and his wife Elizabeth of New Britain; her two daughters, Irena Brzozowski and her husband Mieczyslaw and Eugienia Jarosz and her husband Stefan, all of Newington, she was ‘babcia’ to her precious 7 grandchildren and ‘pra babcia’ to her great grandchildren; Alina and Andrzej Grabowski and their children, Gregory and Joanna; Jaroslaw and Karen Rutkowski and daughters, Tess and Isabelle; Wojtek and Monica Rutkowski and their children, Daniel, Patrick and Emily; Ala and Judd Lemrice and their children, Jace, Belle and Raymond; Gregory and Donna Rutkowski; Stanley and Barbara Jarosz and Barbara Jarosz and husband Michael Lechy and their children, Thomas and Ava. Jadzia also leaves two sisters, Leokadia Kosmaczewska of Newington and Anna Klys of Sweden and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Teofil and Mieczyslaw Rutkowski and a sister, Zofia Chrostowska.

Funeral services will begin Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 9:30am at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10:30am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
