

John Bartosewicz, 83, widower of Genevieve (Juzwinski) Bartosewicz, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Born in New Britain on June 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Aleksander and Sophia (Mickevicius) Bartosevicius and lived in New Britain for many years before moving to Plainville in 1962. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, member of VFW Post 574 and a parishioner of Holy Cross Church.
John worked at Stanley Works, American Tool and Richards Machine until his retirement. With his wife, Cookie, they enjoyed working in the antiques business and together they built a very successful shop at the old Plainville Railroad Station that they ran for many years. He also enjoyed watching his beloved UCONN Husky basketball teams.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his greatest joy was being with his family. He will be remembered for setting a great example of his work ethic and his dedication to his daughters.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving daughters with their spouses; Anne Bartosewicz-Mele and Tony Mele of West Hartford and Joan and L. Scott Taylor of West Simsbury. He also leaves his beloved grandsons, Andrew and Brenden Taylor; his brother, Edward Bartosewicz and his wife Phyllis of New Britain; a sister Sophie Markowicz of New Britain; a sister-in-law, Jane Bartosiewicz of New Britain and leaves behind many special nieces and nephews including Joan, Mike and Peter and his best four-legged friend, Max. John was predeceased by his brother, Alexander.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 9:00 am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00 am in Holy Cross Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
