Joseph Salvatore Savoca, 81, passed away surrounded by family on November 29, 2021. Joe (Joey, JoeJoe) was the youngest of three children born to Italian immigrants Salvatore and Marianna. He was predeceased by his beloved sister Angela DeGennaro and survived by his brother Vincent and his sister-in-law Dolores of Bristol. A lifelong resident of New Britain, he was a kind simple man who cherished his family and friends. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews who will have fond memories of their uncle. Joe was blessed not only with family who loved him but also his very dear lifelong friend Sam who welcomed him into an extended second family along with Anna and Roseanne. Uncle Joe also leaves his family friend Casey, with whom he shared a special bond.
He worked for many years in several local Italian delis in New Britain. JoeJoe enjoyed good food and walked everywhere around the city. He enjoyed movies, listening to music (Elton John, Josh Groban, Yanni, etc.), watching live trials at the courthouse (Judge Judy fan), and using the “magic box” to Facetime relatives.
Visitation hours will be Friday, December 3rd from 10:00 am at New Britain Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery at 12:00PM . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. As we will remember Joe as a kind and gentle soul, please do a kind deed in his memory.
