

Louise (Jean) Birritta Sgroi of New Britain, CT left this world surrounded by her caring and loving family on September 16, 2010, at the age of 93. She was a lifelong resident of New Britain, living in the home she so loved for well over 63 years. She was a member of Saint Anns Church in New Britain. A daughter of the late Sebastian and Mary Birritta. She will be greatly missed by her three children, a Son Vincent Sgroi, and his wife Sherry Sgroi of Plainville, a daughter Roseann Sgroi of New Britain, a Daughter Marion Sgroi-Varano and her husband Don Varano of New Britain. A Sister Nancy Salonia of Avon, a Sister Adeline Sirotnak of Beaumont, CA, a Sister Josephine D’Angelo and her husband John D’Angelo of Southington, CT a Brother Jim Birritta of New Britain, CT and a Sister Janice Wilson of Port St. Lucy, Fl. Four Grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Deborah and Melissa and seven Great Grandchildren Ryan, Jared, Allyson, Ashley, Braden, Kailey and Devin. Also mourning her passing are many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her and will miss her dearly.
A seamstress by trade, employed by Solko’s in New Britain and later by D & L Department Stores in New Britain. She was also a loyal and dedicated supporter at Accounts Management in Kensington, CT. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafts, but most importantly she treasured and took pleasure in spending time with her devoted family and friends: for the family were her friends and her friends were her family.
A very warm and special thank you to the entire staff at the Monsignor Bojnowski Manor for their wonderful care, compassion and love given to Louise and her family during her stay at the Manor.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, September, 20, 2010 at 9:00 AM at the New Britain Memorial and Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30 Am at St. Ann’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, September 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home, Directions : Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on you right.
