

Mary was born on August 23, 1945 in Middletown, New York. She was the daughter of the late Gerald and Edith (Burzynski) Posten. She grew up in Florida, New York where she worked in the onion fields, graduated from S.S. Seward Institute in 1963 and attended Community College. Mary later moved to Columbia, CT, where she raised her family and established herself as a self-employed Folk Artist.
Mary loved sharing stories of her family, especially of raising her two sons, Michael and Daniel. She enjoyed many summers at Cape Cod and working in the Provincetown Art Galleries. She resided in Willimantic, CT for the last 17 years, where she made many friends including some very dear neighbors. While living there, Mary was employed by the Lily Pad and The Hoot. She also enjoyed activities such as The Victorian Home tours and her water aerobics group, “The Windham Swimmin’ Women.”
Mary is survived by her two sons, Michael Baum of Largo, Fl, Daniel Baum and his wife Sherry of Southington, CT, and her ex-husband and friend David Baum of Manchester, CT. Also surviving are 4 beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Ella, Mikayla and Matthew and great-grandchildren Sebastian and Elena. She will also be dearly missed by her cousins, Linda Weslowski-Seekamp of Kingston, NY, Art Weslowski and his wife Devon of Accord, NY and Len Weslowski and his wife Lois of New Mexico.
The family would like to express their special gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Autumn Lake Healthcare in New Britain for their loving care and compassion they showed Mary in her final days.
A private ceremony will be held in her hometown of Florida, NY at the discretion of the family.
