

Miguel A. Miranda, Sr., 66, of New Britain, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 17, with his family by his side. Miguel was born in Juncos, Puerto Rico, and lived in Hartford for forty years. He was a distinguished corrections officer with the Connecticut Department of Corrections for 20 years. Miguel had a passion for baseball, and was active in many Hartford area baseball leagues and community organizations throughout his life, where he made many lifelong friends.
Miguel is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria M. Miranda, of New Britain, and his three children, Evelyn Miranda and her partner, Joseph Boucher, of Rocky Hill, Miguel A. Miranda, Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Pembroke, MA, and Giovanni Miranda of New Britain. Miguel was the loving grandfather of Alexa Miranda of Rocky Hill and Caroline, Kate and Alex Miranda of Pembroke, MA. He is also survived by his nine siblings: Luis Miranda of Springfield, MA, Hiram Miranda of Hartford, Elias Miranda of Hartford, Daniel Miranda of Hartford, Sara Miranda of Hartford, Lydia Ortiz of Hartford, David Miranda of Juncos, PR Santos Miranda of Juncos, PR, and Gloria Miranda of Las Piedras, PR. Miguel also leaves a large extended family and was fortunate to have many wonderful friends. Miguel was predeceased by his parents, Ana Ramos and Concepcion Miranda of Juncos, PR. Miguel will also be missed by his loyal dog, Jefe.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses and staff members at Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center, who have supported Miguel and his family throughout his long battle with cancer.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford on Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are also invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, July 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Britain Memorial – Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain.
