Nellie Ciarcia

Nellie Ciarcia, 92, of Torrington, widow of Sebastian Ciarcia passed away on September 6, 2023 at Valorie Manor Home, Torrington. She was born in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, Italy, daughter of the late Corrado Migneco and Lucia LaRosa.

At age 17 she met Sebastian when he arrived for a visit from America. After a very brief courtship, she married and came to America with him. They eventually settled in New Britain. She was a homemaker, and loving, and dedicated mother to her son. She enjoyed cooking Italian foods for her family. Nellie was a member of St. Ann’s Church in New Britain.

Nellie is survived by her son; Paul Ciarcia of Harwinton (Elaine), grandsons; Raymond Ciarcia of Virginia (Mary Beth) and Carl Ciarcia of Vermont (Corrie) and two great-grandchildren; Lily and Oliver Ciarcia. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews in Italy who will cherish memories of her visits there.

Nellie was predeceased by two sisters who lived in Canicattini Bagni.

Calling hour for Nellie will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, Connecticut 06053. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St Ann Church, 101 North Street, New Britain, Connecticut 06053. Committal Service will occur Monday, September 11, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM at St Mary's Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St, New Britain, CT 06051.
