Rosemary Monroe-Sims, born on June 22, 1953, in Buffalo, NY was a beacon of warmth and laughter, and peacefully passed away at the age of 71, at home on January 12, 2025, where she spent her last days surrounded by loved ones. Rosemary resided in New Britain, CT, where she shared countless memories with her husband of 36 years, Herman Sims.
Born Rosemary A. Monroe, Rosemary was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and a cherished friend, Rosemary’s kind heart touched many lives. Her journey led her to a long and successful career at Xerox Corporation, where she dedicated nearly 30 years of her life, most notably as a Technical Service Manager. Rosemary was known for her humor, honesty, openness, and a genuine desire to help others, values she carried both in her professional and personal life.
Though Rosemary wasn’t particularly religious, she was deeply rooted in Christian values. A former member of Horace Bushnell Congregational Church in Hartford and Bethel AME Church in Bloomfield, she also was actively engaged with the Jack and Jill of America. Her warm spirit and infectious happiness made her a beloved member of every community she joined.
A loving mother and proud grandmother, Rosemary is survived by her son Shaun DeCarlo, his wife Rebecca, and their children Devon, Javan and Kiara Taylor; Nicole Galluzzo and her husband Giovanni, along with their children Miles and Gia; Christopher Gibbs with his wife Kesha, and their children Michael, Zoe, and Liam; Christian Taaj Gibbs with children Alexander Reyes, Liza Mullings, Ezrah Mullings, and Zora Mullings. As well as sisters Marie Alexander, Wendy Cooper, Robette Goodwin and their families. All carry forward the legacy of kindness and love Rose embodied every day of her life.
A celebration of Rosemary’s life will take place on Saturday February 1, 2025 from 2PM-5PM, at New Britain Memorial Funeral Home at 444 Farmington Avenue, in New Britain, CT.
