Born on March 16, 1949, in Nysa, Poland, to Ludwika (Lusia) and Stefan Benewiat, Zenon—affectionately known as Zenek—was the cherished younger brother of Stasia and Teresa.
After graduating high school, Zenek served in the Polish army. During this time, he met and married Helena, and moved to the United States. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their son, Marek Benewiat, and later, their grandson, Mateusz Benewiat.
A talented mechanic with an exceptional eye for detail, Zenek worked for many years as an airplane parts inspector. Beyond his profession, he was known for his boundless generosity—always willing to give his last dollar to help someone in need. He shared a special bond with his sister-in-law, Teresa Szczepanik, his late brother-in-law, Henry Szczepanik, and his niece, Mary Stellon.
After Helena’s passing, Zenek found love again with Maria, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage. Through this union, he gained two beloved bonus children, Marek and Anna.
Following Maria’s passing from cancer, Zenek was fortunate to find love and companionship once more with Ania, who stood by his side and lovingly cared for him throughout his illness.
Zenek’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
