

Zygmund ‘Ziggy’ H. Banasiewicz, 86, of New Britain, widower of Victoria (Budney) Banasiewicz since 2007, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at home with his devoted family by his side. Born in New Britain, he was son to the late Lucien and Anna (Kowalski) Banasiewicz and attended local schools. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Elks Lodge #957 and had proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII. Ziggy worked for many years at CCSU before retiring in 1988 and also enjoyed his Westbrook beach house for the past 45 years. His sweet smile and love for his family will never be forgotten.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his three daughters: Kathleen Stoffers of New Britain, Deborah Circosta of Newington and Bonita Gryckiewicz and her husband Jan of Farmington and a son, Andrew Banasiewicz and his wife Jacqueline of Burlington, his nine dear grandchildren: Jason Stoffers, Melissa Vancour, David Gryckiewicz, Katie Gryckiewicz, Kevin Gryckiewicz, Angelica ‘Angela’ Circosta, Albert ‘Alby’ Circosta, Cole Banasiewicz, and Carley Banasiewicz, two precious great grandchildren; Jordan Carrier and Anthony Stoffers, a sister Helen Hatt and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters; Irene Kapica and Jean Medvec and brother, Lucien Banasiewicz.
Funeral services will begin Monday, January 3, 2011 at 9am at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Cross Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
