Alfonso Galan of New City passed away on February 17 at the age of 88. Born in New York city to Antonio and Elizabeth Galan, he grew up in Manhattan and The Bronx before moving to New City in 1970. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.
Al worked as a commercial printer in Manhattan for over 40 years, and filled his spare time with family, friends, and baseball. He was also active in the Vincent Linguanti Lodge of the Sons of Italy for 40 years. He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 63 years, his daughter Michele, his son Mark, his daughter-in-law Demetria, four loving step-grandchildren, three brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Wednesday, February 21 (4-8 PM) and Thursday, February 22 (4-8 PM). A burial mass will be performed at St. Augustine RC Church in New City on Friday, February 23 at 10 AM.
