Alice McCormick

Alice Elizabeth McCormick, 101, entered into rest on March 9. She moved from her home in White Plains to West Nyack, NY to be surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 12, 1916 in the Bronx, NY to Edward and Katherine (Skelly) Brower. She was the devoted wife of John D, McCormick for 50 years, who predeceased Alice in 2003. They were married at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in the Bronx on April 26, 1952. Alice and John McCormick moved to Rockland to help her brother Edward raise his 5 Children when his wife died at an early age. Alice was an active member of St. Joseph's Church in Spring Valley. After they helped raise the 5 Brower children they moved back to White Plains where she was a daily communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Alice was predeceased by her brothers Edward, William and George. Surviving, are her nieces and nephews, Edward and Cindy Brower, Stephen Brower, Peter and Barbara Brower, Jim and Carol Brower, Anne Brower and many other loving nieces and nephews all of whom share in fond memories of Aunt “Didi” as she was affectionately called. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Francis of Assisi Church West Nyack or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Calling hours will be on Wed April 4 from 4-8pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City, N.Y. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday April 5 at 10 AM, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack, NY, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
