
Bernice Butrico (nee Winkos), of New City, N.Y., 76 years old, passed away peacefully on April 10th 2020. Bernice was born on December 2nd 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Fredrick and Anna (Toth) Winkos. Bernice was a lifelong resident of New City. She graduated from Clarkstown Senior High School which prepared her for her first job with Xerox Corporation, in Blauvelt, New York. In 1965, Bernice married Frank Butrico and they went on to have 4 children during their 52 year marriage. Shortly after the birth of her first child, Bernice changed careers to become a public school bus driver, in order to have a better work/life balance. It was a move that proved to be wise because she loved all the kids she drove and enjoyed her 45 years with Laidlaw and the East Ramapo School district. Bernice loved the beach, especially Long Beach Island, New Jersey. She also loved taking care of her flowers as well as doing her crafts. Her greatest love was for her family and her pets. She loved watching her kids play baseball though the years. She is survived by her daughter Denise Sullo; her sons Christopher, Brian and Michae Butrico , son-in-law Mark Sullo and daughter in law Gina Butrico. She is also survived by her grandchildren Will Sullo and Isabella Butrico. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Butrico, her parents Fredrick and Anna Winkos, as well as her brother Joseph Winkos. She will be missed by so many and will live on in their hearts.
At this time, a mass of Christian burial will not be celebrated due to the COVID 19 pandemic. A memorial mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
