Denis Herlihy, 74, of New City, passed away on June 23, 2017. Denis was born November 7, 1942, in the Bronx, NY to Mary and Cornelius Herlihy. Denis retired from the NYPD in 1985. He was a long time proud member of the 48 PCT of which he maintained lifelong friendships. He was also an active member of the 10-13 Club and the Rockland County Shields. His family was his passion along with debating politics, going to Albertus basketball games and attending all his grandchildren's sports games. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maureen (Healy); children Denis (Mary) Teed, Mike (Kim) Teed, Helene (Terrance) McCauley, Kevin (Sasha) Herlihy, Denise (Patrick) Lenihan; grandchildren Ryan, Dylan, Aidan, Cameron, Casey, Connor, Allison, Austin and Colin; his sister Sr. Camelia Herlihy and brother Michael (Maryellen) and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Tuesday from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Mass of the Christian burial will be held Wednesday, 10am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
