Dominic J. Sansone

Dominic "Doc, DJ, Don" passed away on September 19, 2011 of a broken heart just 5 weeks after burying his beloved Gloria. Born June 10, 1926 in Mount Vernon, NY to Sabato Sansone and Palma Ruocco Sansone. He attended A.B. Davis High School and served as a Corporal in the Army Air Force in WW II. He was a dedicated employee of IBM for over 40 years where he held various positions utilizing his many talents. His hobbies kept him busy and his amazing paintings grace many a wall. There was nothing he couldn't build or paint. His family will always treasure his wonderful creations. He passed his love of music on to his family and could play anything on the piano and trumpet. He was a charmer with a great sense of humor and always captivated an audience at gatherings telling stories.

Being surrounded by family and friends was his favorite place to be. Doc is survived by his daughter Laurie Cumming and her husband Jeff of Congers; daughter Virginia "Ginny" Colsey and her husband Alan of Valley Cottage; Daughter-in-law Kathy Berkowitz & her husband Ken of Congers; Grandchildren: Kim, Jackie & Michael Sansone and Blair, Ben & Allie Colsey. He is also survived by his brothers Angelo and Joseph Sansone, sister-in-law, Frances Cosseboom & her husband Frank of New City and brother-in-law Ed Jones of Suffern as well as many adoring nieces and nephews and great nieces & nephews. He is pre-deceased by his wife Gloria on Aug 11, 2011, his son, Greg in 1991, brothers Anthony in 1996, Thomas in 2000 and sister Mary Sgammato in 2003, sister-in-law Terry Jones in 1996, brother-in-law James Capparelli, and grandson Jeffery Cumming in 1988. Viewing will be held Thursday, Sept. 22nd 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept 23rd at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Parrott Road, West Nyack, NY at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: New City Fire Dept., 15 Maple Ave, New City, NY 10956.
