
Donald Cote' of Pearl River, New York, died peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his side. He was born in Arlington, MA on February 28, 1930 to Charles and Bertha (Fallon) Cote'. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged. He worked for several pharmaceutical companies as a research scientist in the cardiovascular field for over 40 years. He was an EMT for 12 years in the Nanuet Ambulance Corps. He was an active member of the parish of St. Aedan's, often assisting at their pancake breakfasts. He was a member of the Korean Veterans and served on the Honor Guard.
Don was an avid hockey fan; as a young man he attended many Wednesday and Sunday Ranger games at Madison Square Garden, where he often saw his beloved Bruins. He loved to listen to music, especially women with beautiful voices. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had a great appreciation for the greats, like Laurel and Hardy. He took pride in his home and had one of the loveliest houses on the street. He adored all of his grandchildren and was proud of all of their achievements. Don was a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren. He was an honest, decent, humble, loyal, conscientious, hardworking man.
Don is survived by his wife and best friend of 58 years, Doris (Starr), sons Paul and wife Eileen of Stony Point, NY; Marc and wife Theresa of Cornwall, NY; Todd and wife Helen of Central Valley, NY and daughter Megan and husband Chris Baer of Monroe, Ny. He had 11 beloved grandchildren who will dearly miss their "Pop" - Shannon, Andy, Allison and Peter Cote', Alex, Brandan and Katie Cote', and Doug, Brian, Kellie and Sophie Baer. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Conklin of Wake Forest, NC. He is predeceased by brothers Charles and William Cote'.
Family will receive friends on Monday, April 25 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, New York from 2pm, to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in his name on Tuesday, April 28 at St. Aedan's Church in Pearl River, NY.
