Dorothy Ann Small

Dorothy leaves her loving children; daughters Suzanne Small of Garnerville, NY, Diana M. Small of Apopka, FL and her son James T. Small Jr. of West Nyack, NY and her grandsons Jamie, Casey and Spencer Small of West Nyack, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by her sister and brother-in law, Barbara and Al Schezzini.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband of 55 years James T. Small Sr.

Dorothy was a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh in 1958 (pioneer of those times) and she worked as an Elementary School teacher in Clarkstown Central School for 25 plus years. Dorothy cherished her career and the differences she made in her students’ lives. Dorothy supported the Camp Venture Organization. Dorothy was a beautiful, caring, and supportive person to everyone she met.

Dorothy was an avid swimmer and in Dorothy’s youth she and her family summered in the Thousand Islands, NY. Dorothy shared those wonderful times with her children. Dorothy also spent many summers boating with her husband and family on the Hudson River and the Long Island Sound. Upon her retirement in 1985, Dorothy and her husband moved to South Florida for 25 years. Upon their return back to Rockland County in 2009, she spent time with family and enjoyed rekindling and visiting with her friends at Lake Nanuet. She was an active member with the Nanuet Seniors Group and enjoyed socializing and traveling to different events with them.

Dorothy will be missed and forever in our hearts!
