

Born on October 29, 1929 in Bronxville, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Anthony Venute and Helen Sackowitz Venute. Dorothy attended Immaculate Conception, grammar school in Tuckahoe , Saint Gabriel's High School in New Rochelle and Our Lady of Victory business school in Mount Vernon, New York.
After business school, she went to work for Hearst magazines in New York City as an administrative secretary. She also worked for Firestone tire and rubber company for seven years. In 1952 she married John Winkler at the Immaculate Conception church in Tuckahoe , they were married for 52 years before his passing in 2004.
Dorothy was a stay at home mom to her two children, Lawrence and Joan. She belonged to the ARC organization and played bridge with the neighborhood women. She is a parishioner of Saint Augustine's church in New City where she always attended the 5 PM mass on Saturday .
Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Nellie, her brother Robert, and her brother Thomas. She is survived by a sister Barbara, her cherished children, Lawrence and his wife Cheryl, her daughter, Joan Murphy and her husband Stephen. Two grandchildren: Matthew Murphy and his wife Ashley, parents to her great grandchild Rian, as well as Michael Murphy and his wife Olivia. She leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
