
Edward F. Devine, 49, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2011, surrounded by his family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on April 6, 1961, he is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their children, Daniel, Edward, Neil, and Rose, and his parents, James and Kathleen Devine, as well as his brothers, Jim and Paul Devine, and sisters, Anne Jorgensen and Rita Devine, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews. Edward was a graduate of Manhattan College and received his law degree from Marquette University. Since 2000, he served as the Director of the Rockland County Drainage Agency. Prior to that, he worked for the Department of Environmental Conservation as a regional attorney, and before that as Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Orangetown. For many years, he was a member of the Solid Waste Authority for Rockland County. Most recently, he also served as Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Mamakating in Sullivan County. He was very much loved by his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visiting hours will be on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 16 at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 11:30 AM, West Nyack, NY, followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, Congers, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
