Elaine Chesmar

Elaine Chesmar (nee Laga) of Congers, NY, 72 years old passed away peacefully January 16, 2024. She was born on April 29, 1951 to Anne and Martin Laga. She graduated from St. Helena High School in the Bronx and married the love of her life George in 1970 at St. Francis of Rome in the Bronx, NY. Elaine enjoyed shopping and dining at local restaurants with friends and family. She also loved her soaps and even playing games her family would tease that are silly like hit it rich on her phone. Her greatest joys came from her family. Along with her husband of 53 years, George Jr, she is survived by her sons George(Christine) and Robert (Kathleen) and her daughter Jennifer (Jason). She is also survived by her sister Anci Bertorelli (Robert), and 4 granddaughters Chloe (13), Morgan (8), Charlotte (5) and Fiona(2). We can’t forget to mention her little best fur pal, her grandpuppy Lola. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends on Monday January 22nd from 4-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10am at St. Paul’s Church in Congers, NY followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery in Congers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or United Hospice of Rockland.
