Elizabeth "Lily" Hughes

Elizabeth (Lily) Hughes, age 91, passed away on August 25, 2014. She was born in Clontibret Co. Monaghan Ireland. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 1984; a son, Seamus, in 1980; a great-grandson, Liam Joseph, in 2003. She is survived by two sons, Cyril and his wife Peggie and Jeff and his wife, Linda; 2 grandchildren, Kelli and her husband Tommy and Joseph and his wife Maureen; 6 great-grandchildren, T.J., Kate, and Caroline (Annesi), Emma, Kaeleigh and Christine (Hughes); as well as many nieces, nephews in Ireland, England, and United States. Lily will be best remembered for her love for family and friends; she also had the ability to make everyone around her smile. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She worked in Presbyterian Medical Center for 25 years before retiring in 1988. Lily belonged to Bonaire and Hubert Humphreys Senior Citizen Clubs. Family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10am, at St. Anthony's Shrine Church, Nanuet, followed by interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
