Ellen Jean Joosten

Ellen Joosten 74, of Orangeburg, N.Y. passed away on January 12, 2015 peacefully at Villa Marie Claire Hospice surrounded by her family. She was born on October 21, 1940 to the late John and Catherine (nee Kelly) Dloughy in Suffern, NY. She was predeceased by her loving husband Dennis, her brothers Thomas Dloughy and George Dloughy and is survived by her 3 loving children, Suzanne Delli Pizzi (Michael) of Tappan N.Y, Michael Joosten (Joanne) of Monroe, NY and Kristie Joosten (Kristin) of Pearl River N.Y. also survived by her five cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Delli Pizzi, Danielle Delli Pizzi, Dennis Joosten, Olivia Joosten and Hailey Joosten as well as her brother Jack Dloughy, sisters Karen Filippone (Aldo), Mary Dloughy, brother-in-law Harry Joosten (Ann), sister-in-law Christine Dloughy and many nieces and nephews. Ellen retired from a long career with Inserra Shoprite; she enjoyed traveling and cherished her time with family and close friends. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her. The family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to Villa Marie Hospice for making her final days be as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Family will receive visitors at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY on Wednesday from 6-9pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday, 10am at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, Tappan. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
