

Monsey, NY – Ellen Marie Keith of Monsey, NY passed away on April 04, 2024 in the presence of her loving family. Ellen was a lifelong Rockland County resident who was born on June 13, 1965 in Suffern, NY. She was the beloved daughter of Jean and William Keith who predeceased her. Ellen was a long time resident of Brill House, a Jawonio home in Monsey, NY residing there for the past 17 years.
Ellen attended Rockland County public schools and was an employee of various workshops under Venture and Jawonio throughout her early adult life.
Ellen had a happy disposition and loved her “other family” at Brill House, including fellow residents and caring staff members. Ellen enjoyed an active social life by attending many of the program sponsored parties, outings, and celebrations throughout her life. She loved to color and listen to country music. She especially enjoyed getting her hair styled and having her nails painted in snappy colors. Ellen looked forward to dressing in style when she could wear her many pieces of jewelry and one of her classic hats. She had a keen sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Ellen adored her family and always looked forward to attending holiday celebrations either at her parents’ home or other close family members or relatives. Over the years, Ellen greatly enjoyed being part of the many vacations taken together with her family.
Ellen is survived by her siblings Barbara White (Robert) of Stony Point, NY; William Keith (Mary Pat) of Penfield, NY; Robert Keith of Pomona, NY. She was predeceased by her dear brother Steven J. Keith. Also surviving are nieces Meghan White (Brian) of Chicago, IL; Kelli DeRisio (Nick) of Rochester, NY; and Elizabeth Suri of Ridgewood, NJ. Surviving nephews are Andrew White of Hoboken, NJ and Steven A. Keith of Pompton Lakes, NJ. Ellen is survived by her aunts Patsy Priest of New City, NY and Teri Shepard of Knoxville, TN. Ellen also leaves behind her many dear cousins and friends as well as her wonderful fellow residents.
Ellen’s family would like to thank the staff of Jawonio, especially the loving caring staff of Brill House. Their dedication to Ellen’s needs were instrumental in providing for a happy, comfortable life. Barbara, Robert and Bill extend their most sincere appreciation and thanks for all that was done for Ellen.
Ellen’s family will receive visitors at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY on Tuesday April 09,2024 from 4p-8p. A private burial is planned at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY on April 10.
