Ernest J. Sulzer

Ernest Joseph Sulzer, 79 years old, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 19, 1944 in the Bronx, New York, to Jean and Ernest Sulzer. Ernest was an electrician in Local 3 IBEW for over 50 years and was dedicated to his electrical union brothers. Upon his retirement, he focused his attention on his greatest joy, his eight grandchildren, Caitlin Anne, Jacquelyn Gilleece, Jack Hudson, Ann Harper, Emily Jude, Luke Hatcher, James Francis and Mary Grace.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara, his sons William E. Sulzer (Jennifer), Dr. James A. Sulzer (Dr. Eileen Dolan) and Thomas E. Sulzer (Christina), his brother-in-law Dr. Richard A. Gruffi, his nephews John Rudy, Joseph Rudy, Dr. Richard M. Gruffi and his niece Dr. Catherine Gruffi. He is predeceased by his father Ernest Sabastian Sulzer, mother Jean Catherine Sulzer (née Bahr), and sister Diane Rudy (née Sulzer).

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 23 rd from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, New York. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 24 th at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, New York, followed by interment at Germonds Cemetery in New City, New York.
