

Farouk Shehada 87 passed away July 31st surrounded by his loved ones. Farouk was born in Al Kahlil, Palestine to Farida and Sobhi Shehada in 1937. His family sought refuge in Cairo, Egypt in 1948. He received his bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Cairo. He then taught in Saudi Arabia for several years. He emigrated again to the United States in 1971, when hearing the US was in need of accountants. In 1972 he met the love of his life, his wife Teresa (Rippey). They married in 1973 and had 4 children Farouk Jr, Jamal (Jimmy) and twins Agnes and Ali and sadly years later endured the loss of his son Jimmy in a tragic car accident. He was a loving, and compassionate father and would do anything for his children. Farouk worked as financial controller for several hotels in New York City. He was ambitious and driven with an exceptional work ethic. He retired in 2004. In his retirement he continued to work on successful real estate investments. He also became a United States Citizen and was very proud. He was predeceased by his son Jimmy in 1995, several siblings in Egypt, his brothers Fouad, Sadi, Adli, and sister Inshara. He is survived by his wife Teresa, his daughter, Agnes and his sons Farouk Jr, and Ali and his wife Dani ( Francese) and his beloved grandchildren Jimmy and Leah. His last years were the joyful ones he spent with them. They were the light of his life. Farouk loved New York City. He loved to travel. He took his family on many trips to the Jersey Shore, Germany, and to the great Pyramids of Giza. Farouk will be remembered for the love of his native land and his love for America. He was gentle, generous and kind. To know Farouk was to love him. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
