
Frances De Gaetani, of New City, New York passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. She was born in Messina, Italy to Salvatore and Maria Ceraolo on November 9, 1911 and was the oldest of six children. Frances would have celebrated her 100th birthday in just a few short weeks. She emigrated to The Bronx in 1916. She was a seamstress by trade and designed custom bridal gowns at the Rose Dura Bridal Shop owned by her sister, Rose Picone. To Frances there was nothing more important to her than family and friends. All who knew her understood that no one liked to party at family gatherings more than "Nonnie."
She is survived by her only son, Allen J. De Gaetani, his wife, Jean, her youngest brother, Bovio Ceraolo, four grandchildren, Anthony, Donna, Darlene and Raymond and nine great grandchildren, Tiffini, Vincent, Lindsey, Christopher, Jaron, Michael, Nicholas, Kami and Kira. Her husband, Salvatore De Gaetani predeceased her on January 24, 1994.
The family will be accepting visitors on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Higgins Funeral Home at 321 South Main Street in New City, New York from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Burial services will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in the Chapel at the Cemetery of the Ascension located at 650 Saddle River Road, Monsey, New York with a private interment to follow.
