

Born in Manhattan in 1929 to Mary and Maurice O’Leary, she was the oldest of six siblings raised in the Fordham section of the Bronx. Frances graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School in 1947. She then started her first job working at Equitable Life, which she fondly referred to as “The Eq.”
Frances met the love of her life, John Guy, known as Scotty, at 14 years old. They later married in January of 1953 and raised their five children on Davidson Avenue in the Bronx, where their life was enriched by many close friends.
They moved to Rockland County in the early 1990s to be closer to their children and grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Grannie Frannie.” Frances began working as a bus matron at Haverstraw Transit where she cherished assisting children with special needs.
Frances enjoyed the final years of her life as a resident at Thorpe Village in Sparkill, NY.
She is predeceased by her husband John Guy, sisters Catherine and Ann O’Leary, brother Cornelius O’Leary, sister-in-law Elizabeth Guy, brother-in-law Timothy Flaherty, son-in-law Peter Sasso, and granddaughter Kristen Guy.
She is survived by her sisters: Patricia Flaherty and Mary (Frank) Onderdonk, her children: John (Kathleen) Guy, Kevin (Doris) Guy, Kathleen (Donald) Mimnaugh, Michael Guy, and Ellen Sasso, her grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Robert) Kalaf, Lori (Timothy) McQuade, Peter Sasso, Donald (Cierra) Mimnaugh, Jaclyn Guy, Daniel (Daniella) Guy, Julie Sasso, and Tara Sasso, and her seven great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 7 from 3-7pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. An 11am Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville, NY.
