Freddy Massa, 57, passed away on April 5, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Freddy was born on April 30, 1966, to his parents Gaetano and Lorraine Massa. He was born in the Bronx and the family moved to Rockland County in 1975. He was the oldest of 5 children and was a wonderful brother to his siblings, Carolyn, Lisa Ann and her husband Roland, Dawn and her husband Kevin and Nick and his wife Rebecca. A true family man, Freddy was the uncle to 10 nieces and nephews, Anthony, Emilio, Nicolette, Ryan, Fee, Julia, Ashley, Autumn, Amar’e and Jake, as well as his great niece Sophia. He was a proud graduate of Clarkstown High School South and Delhi University. A man of many talents, Freddy was a skilled HVAC mechanic and more recently found his true calling working for Rockland BOCES. His face lit up when he spoke about his students and he thought tirelessly about different strategies to help ensure their success.
Freddy also had a love for wrestling that started in high school and continued as he coached wrestling for his two boys within the Nanuet Schools, RKA Middle and High School programs in the Bronx, Suffern Middle School and more recently Tappan Zee High School. He was a beloved member of the Nanuet Community, not only for his involvement with his boys at school, but as a little league coach and board member, Meals on Wheels volunteer and captain of the Highview Elementary School playground build team. His absolute pride and joy was raising his two boys Cody (24) and Logan (20). Cody is currently an Aviation Rescue Swimmer for the United States Navy and Logan is currently pursuing his education in Cyber Security at Bergen Community College and is planning to continue his education at PolyTechnic Institute.
Freddy had a love for the Jets and the Yankees. He was quite the prankster and was known to never back down from a prank war. He loved hanging out and playing football and baseball with his cousins (Wiseguys for life) and recently discovered a love for coin collecting. Freddy had the kindest smile, a heart of gold, a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend who went out of his way to help others. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin and godfather. His passing is a tremendous loss to his family, friends and his community.
