I had the honor and privilege of serving and flying with  George in the US Army. He will be missed

We all went our own ways after childhood, but the fond memories of those early years still remain. So sorry to see George has passed on. My sincere condolences, Chet Olszewski.

George started off as a regular at our restaurant. (A regular as in everyday, sometimes twice a day lol). His favorites included mussels marinara, buffalo strips, and Tiramisu.  He would come in and always share many many stories about his family, his career, and memories from the past. George quickly became a part of our family, in and out of the restaurant.  He was adored by all staff, and anyone and everyone around him. He also shared our love for the Kansas City Chiefs, and always surprised us with souvenirs every trip he took back home.  We are so so saddened to hear about this news. We send our deepest condolences to his family. 

George: 
Beloved Brother/Brother-In-Law. You gave us this Irish Blessing as our Best Man at our Wedding over 47 Years ago and  I am sending it back to you on your Final  Journey Home.

May the Road Rise to Meet You.
May the wind

George was always so kind to me and allowed me to stay at his place when Pensacola experienced an ice storm and I couldn’t get back home for a week.  We went to the movies in a torrential rain storm to see The Hunger Games,  Part 2.  We sat in the cold, damp theater soaking wet eating Snow Caps.  We flew together to Japan on a G550.  We also share the same birthday. (Not the same year, though lol) Rest In Peace, my buddy.


George's Family would like to thank all of you for your kind words about him.

George,  First you were my brother, then you were my best friend,now you are my angel.
There will never be a day that goes by that I  will not think of you and how much you meant to me. My heart is broken.  I know that you are with Mom and Dad in Heaven.

I am So sorry for the loss of George ,he was a nice person and I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to fly with him on the 727.

George and I were in the first class of MD-80 aircraft at Vanguard Airlines. Our studio apartments were across the hall from each other in Seal Beach, California. We spent a lot of time together cooking breakfast for each other and terrorizing downtown Seal Beach eating establishments. Going to the Crab Pot for happy hour at the harbor for free fish tacos and $2 drinks. $10 later and a full stomach the walk home was entertaining. The late George Tessmer was also in attendance. He and I also ran separate crash pads in Kansas City. He was a great fan of “Oh father where art thou”. He was never short on joining in conversation. Unfortunately I never flew with George. After VG went bankrupt we parted ways and lost touch except for annual Veterans Day post from George on FB. At my age at 71 I wonder about my time left here on earth. George definitely left way too early. The Kinks have a song “who will be the next in line” or the Wilburys “end of the line”. One never knows when our number comes up and up we go to the pearly gates. George I am saddened to see you go. You will be deeply missed by all of your Vanguard Family

I met George just a few years ago during a B727 recurrent training class.  Months later I flew with George on several trips, including a very memorable trip to Europe.  

George was a kind man and fun to be around.  May you Rest In Peace.

George was the kindest man you could ever call friend.  Loyal, true to others and a best friend to our family.  He entered our lives over 35 years ago and was a true friend.  When George moved to Florida, he was included in our family gatherings for birthdays, holidays and just a get together. He never missed the opportunity.  You touched the lives of our two boys, they thought the world of you.  We shared many laughs over the years!   I will miss you my friend.  My heart is heavy. Taken from this world to soon.  Soar high in heaven, you have earned your heavenly wings.  

What a character! George was a generous, kind, loving friend, who loved his family and friends. I was one of several "crash pad" roommates.  One "quirk" George had was his "tea"/coffee maker. Not only did he keep a note on his Mr. Coffee that said "for tea only", there was a verbal threat that anyone who even tried to use it for coffee would suffer a consequence. No one messed with George's "tea pot" 😄. George was also generous with his tax knowledge and helped many with taxes, advice, etc. For many years, after Vangurd failed, I would get a call on my birthday. Thank you Ross Roger's for carrying on this tradition! RIP my friend! You will be missed!

George was not only a true professional to work with, he made work fun! He was a very kind, caring, down-to-earth, and funny friend.  Everyone loved flying with George! Till we meet again in Heaven...save a jumpseat for me!

I worked with George at Vanguard Airlines. I was his Crew Scheduler. I got to know him before I was a scheduler as a gate agent. He was always kind, friendly and professional to everyone. After I left Vanguard he kept in touch with me on LinkedIn and I would hear from him on my birthday each year. He had a heart of gold and I'll miss him dearly. I was lucky to have known him..Rest easy my friend.

Words cannot express the emptiness I have in my heart with the loss of brother George. He was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever known. I am a better person myself just from knowing him. I am blessed to  have had the privilege  of many hours together with him in the same cockpit and grand adventures  traveling around the world. I will miss him terribly.  As long as I carry  him in my heart and mind he will forever live on. Fly west my friend until we meet again.

George is a great friend of mine we flew together at Vanguard airlines and we’re training partners during captain upgrade training George was one of the smartest and best pilots that I ever knew George was a great person and a loyal friend he would help anyone at any time no questions asked. George has flown straight to heaven which is where the great ones belong  Enjoy your new life in heaven my brother you deserve it . Paul Robinson

George was my best friend.  This is left a huge void in my life that I doubt will ever be filled.  We flew many hours together in many different airplanes. I trusted George, without question, as I’m sure he trusted me. I love you George, and will miss you terribly.  Godspeed my friend.
