Georgianna Polhemus

Georgianna Polhemus of New City, NY, 92 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 11, 2026. She is survived by her daughter (Jo Ann) and son (Stanley Jr.)/wife (Marcia). She is also survived by four grandchildren and their significant others; grandson (Nick)/wife (Abby), grandson (Dan)/wife (Sue), grandson (Taylor)/wife (Shannon), and granddaughter (Kelly)/fiancée (Derek) as well as five great grandchildren; Anderson (Nick & Abby), Ethan and Aaron (Dan & Sue), and Declan and Riley (Taylor & Shannon). She was predeceased by Stanley, her loving husband of 62 years, in 2017.

Georgianna was born June 30, 1933 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. She grew up and went to school in Spring Valley, NY. She married her High School sweetheart, Stanley, in 1955. They raised their family and lived in New City. Georgianna worked in the Clarkstown School District as a secretary before retiring in 1992. She was active in the United Church of Spring Valley for many years, serving as a Sunday School teacher. She loved puzzling, gardening/flowers, being around water, attending family athletic/music events, cooking for family – being with family. She loved her family – she was very supportive and proud of them.

Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY, 10956, on January 18 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same location on January 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am with a burial service to follow at Germonds Presbyterian Church, 39 Germonds Road, New City, NY.
