Giovanni Pettenati

Born in Italy on March 22, 1936, Giovanni grew up on a small family farm with his two brothers Armando and Luigi before immigrating to the United States in 1964.

Family was always at the center of Giovanni’s life. He shared 59 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Mirella Pettenati. Together they raised three children, Steven Pettenati, David Pettenati, and Sandra Margiotta, who were his pride and joy. Giovanni also cherished his five grandchildren, Anthony and Christopher Margiotta, Alexa, Brandon, and Ashley Pettenati, and he took great pride in their accomplishments.

Giovanni will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, and the values he passed down to his children and grandchildren. His legacy of devotion, kindness, and perseverance will live on in the lives of all who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Giovanni’s life at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Church, 82 Lake Road, Congers, NY 10920, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
