

Gladys was a resident of Rockland County since 1999. She was born May 25 th 1932 to Natividad and Ricardo Paz in Santa Maria, Colombia, S.A. Gladys graduated from the Ricaute School in Dagua Colombia.She went on to teach elementary school in Limonar and Cali. Gladys emigrated to the United States in 1963 with her husband Daniel Rojas and their two children, settling in Queens NY. She was the first to arrive in the United States and helped pave the way for the family members that followed. Gladys was a member of the Haverstraw Seventh Day Adventist Church.She was also an avid gardener who took great pleasure in transforming the front of the house into a lush,colorful landscape for all the neighborhood to enjoy. Her greatest joys came from her family. An intelligent, strong, resilient woman who was very resourceful and compassionate.
Gladys is survived by her loving children, Joanne and Danny and the apple of her eyes,grandsons James and Matthew.She is also survived by her sisters Doris, Asceneth and Smirna along with her brothers Adolfo and Omar. Gladys is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.She was predeceased by her siblings Itamar, Phanor, Ricardo and Norman. Gladys will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was so beloved.
Family will receive friends on Sunday November 13 th from 2pm to 6pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Christian service will be held on Monday 10am at Higgins Funeral Home followed by interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens NY at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
