Growing up, Jim was always the life of the party. He was entertaining and engaging and extremely popular. As a young teenager, Jim attended over 50 Sweet 16 parties.
Jim was athletic and a leader. In high school, Jim was elected captain of the baseball and basketball teams. He was also voted Prom King of his senior class.
Jim attended and graduated from Cornell University. During his time there he developed a fondness for upstate New York, and for the Adirondacks, which lasted his lifetime.
After graduation, Jim worked in Manhattan for several years and accomplished one of his personal goals of completing the NYC marathon. Eventually, California called, and off he went, spending the next decade working and living in Northern California and travelling to exotic locations.
Jim’s love language was Gifts. Family and friends have lost count of the number of times Jim offered gifts, unexpectedly, and on no particular occasion. The gifts were often small, but carried with them an abundance of thoughtfulness, love, and generosity.
Jim cultivated many friends. Friends he had for years and for decades. Friends who were loyal and giving and integral to his life.
Jim never met a stranger.
Jim will always be remembered and cherished for being kind, generous, fun-loving, and outgoing, and for his easy smile and laughter.
Jim is survived by his loving mother Natalie Marchionni, his brothers William (Elizabeth) and Gregory (Donna), by his nephews John William, James, Matthew, and Steven, and by many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jim was predeceased by his father Anthony Marchionni.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13th from 9:00 am -11:00 am at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 Main Street, New City, NY, 10956 followed by a Catholic funeral service beginning at 11:30am St. Francis Assisi, 128 Parrott Road, West Nyack, New York 10994.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation to a diabetes charity, or other charity, of your choice.
