

Jean (McKillop) Finan, of Congers, passed away on April 25, 2015. She was born in Bronx, NY to James and Anne (Brown) McKillop. Jean was married to her loving husband Edward Finan for 51 years.Jean grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Walton High School in 1960 in Bronx, NY. She then worked as a legal secretary for the State Department of Law. Soon after she met the love of her life Edward Finan at the Jersey Shore and married him in 1964. In 1967, she moved to Congers, NY where she raised her four children and lived for 48 years. Jean enjoyed careers as a real estate broker/agent and as a legal assistant. For the past 8 years, Jean was working at a job she loved as a legal secretary to Judge Tom Walsh at the Surrogate's Court, Rockland County, NY.Jean enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved sharing stories. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good party. She was a generous, kind person who will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.Jean is survived by her loving husband Edward, her daughters Laura (Adrian) & Jennifer (Brian), son James (Carol-Ann), cherished grandchildren Emma, Quinn and Gavin McKeon, Abigail and Anna Finan and Edward Baker, sister Anne Rodriguez. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Edward J. Finan and brother Bruce McKillop.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 7-9pm, Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City. A service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, May 1, 2015 at the funeral home followed by a burial at St. Anthony Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made in Jean's memory to the FDNY Burn Center, 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475.
