John Steven Gentillo passed away unexpectedly on June 17 with his family by his side. John was 59 years old. Anyone who knew John, felt his passion for vintage cars, his love for the Rangers, and his devotion to his wife Patti Ann, his children Julia and John, and his family and friends.
As a former public servant, John served 20 years as a member of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department. John then followed his passion for cars and spent the last 15 years in the automotive industry. He took pride in his customers’ care and satisfaction. A bourbon aficionado, it gave John great joy to sit back in his garage and admire his curated car collection while sipping a smooth bourbon.
Generous with his time, John was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who always extended a hand and embraced every moment of life. His wry wit and contagious laugh filled the room. He could name a tune in three notes and music was the background to all that he did. Whether sipping coffee with Patti Ann or working on his cars and motorcycle in the garage, the music was always playing.
A visitation for John will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 21, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Francis of Assisi's Church, 128 Parrott Rd, West Nyack, NY 10994.
