John W. McSherry

McSherry, John W. "Jack" John W. McSherry, "Jack," passed away at home on November 6, 2011. He was born in New York City on December 22, 1932 to John T. and Grace L. (nee Wells) McSherry. He was a resident of Valley Cottage, NY for 46 years, formerly of the Bronx. Jack received his Bachelor's Degree at Iona College and his Master's Degree from NYU. He retired from First Brands in Parsippany, NJ. Jack married Nancy (nee Flood) in 1958 at St. Barnabas Church in the Bronx. Jack was ordained a Deacon at St. Patrick's Cathedral in 1980 and served at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Congers, NY. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Paul's, the Knights of Columbus Pope John Paul Council in Congers, NY, the Lions Club in Congers/Valley Cottage, NY. Jack is survived by his three daughters, Sr. Diane O.P. of Sparkill, NY, Therese McSherry of Nanuet, NY, and Patricia (Michael) Salvatore of Garnerville, NY; his brother, Edward (Eileen) McSherry of Crestwood, NY and two grandsons, Brian and Michael. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Nancy in 1999 and his sister, Grace M. McSherry in 1989. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-5 & 7-9 at St. Paul's Church in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11am at St. Paul's Church followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Food Cupboard.
