

John Anthony Miele, of Rockland, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, on January 21, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle; John left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. John is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Antoinette, and his children,Salvatore (Regina), Michael, John, David (Jeannine), and Laura (Bryan). He was the proud grandfather of eight cherished grandchildren: Colin, Avery, Christopher, Gianna,Alexander, Vincent, Jack, and Anthony. John is also survived by his sisters, Josephine and Christina (Don), and was predeceased by his sister Gina (Steve). He was a treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews, who brought him great joy throughout his life. As well as countless and extended family.
Born on March 7, 1947, in Cicciano, Italy, to Salvatore and Maria Miele, John immigrated to America in 1954, where he built a remarkable life. He married his childhood sweetheart, Antoinette, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter.
John earned his Masters in Psychology from Herbert H. Lehman College and served his country with pride as a member of the National Guard. He was also actively involved in his community and St.Augustine’s Parish. Professionally, he spent his career as a highly regarded jeweler in New York City, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
John was the backbone of his family, a true patriarch who found his greatest happiness when surrounded by his loved ones. He also cherished the many close friendships he built over the years, which brought him endless joy and companionship. John had a passion for tennis and golf, often spending his free time on the court or course with family and friends. He also loved traveling to his birthplace of Italy, a tradition that kept him connected to his family and his Italian culture which brought him immense joy. His wisdom, strength, and humor will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered.
A celebration of John’s life will take place on Saturday & Sunday, January 25th and 26th with visitation from 3-7pm, at Michael J. Higgins Funeral home 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. Mass will be on Monday January 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine’s Parish 140 Maple Ave New City, NY 10956.
