John P. Smith passed away on Nov 30, 2016 at Nyack Hospital at the age of 82. John was born May 21, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Julia Smith. He was a supervisor of the steam plant at American Cynamid. He retired in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Johanna (Joan) of 55 years. Also, devoted father of his son John, and daughter, Patricia Fernandez (Franklyn). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Noel, Frankie, Danny, Aiden, and Dylan. He leaves behind one brother, William. He is pre-deceased by a son, Charles and granddaughter, Alexandra. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday, Dec 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church in New City, NY. Friends may call on Sun from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Private cremation to follow.
