

Joseph A. Pagano of Nanuet passed away on January 23, 2011, at home. He was born on September 11, 1921, in the Bronx, New York. After serving in the Army during World War II, he was a route salesman for Stella D'Oro Biscuit Company where he worked for 38 years. He also worked part time at Rockland Bakery and was a school bus driver for the Clarkstown Central School District. Joseph enjoyed jogging, reading, and telling jokes. He was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Jets. He volunteered as a New York State Ombudsman, advocating for the elderly in nursing homes. Joseph was also a member of the Veterans Group of Rockland County, a former committee man for the Republican Party of Rockland County, and he was "Jo-Jo the Clown" for Clowns R Us, performing in senior residences and hospitals. He was a member of the Nanuet II Seniors Group, the Italian American Social Club, and St. Paul's Prayer Group. With his wife, Camille, he was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet. Joseph married Camille Carito of Manhattan, NY, in 1953. They lived in the Bronx before moving to Nanuet in 1963. Joseph is survived by his wife, Camille; three children, Joanne, Michael, and Rosemarie; two grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Schuster; sonsin law, Donald Schuster and Bruce Weber; brother, John, of California; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was loved by all of his family and friends, and he will be missed. Funeral services will be held at Higgins F.S. in New City on Thursday, 7-9, and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's R.C. Church on Saturday, 10 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
