Joyce was born on December 2, 1936 in the Bronx to Edward and Phyllis Kalinowski where she attended Evander Child High School. In 1955, she married Thomas Lynch, Sr. Together they started a family and moved to New City in 1967 with their three children. Joyce stayed home to raise her family until the untimely death of her husband. She then started working for the Town of Clarkstown where she met Richard Tigue. The two soon married and welcomed another daughter. This completed their family.
Years later, Joyce began working at Jesse Kaplan School with students having special abilities. She brought out the best in people and encouraged them to reach their potential. At Kaplan, she expressed her love and passion for helping others, inspiring many both in and out of the classroom. This proved to be extremely rewarding as Joyce knew the difference she was making. After retirement, Joyce loved spending time with friends, going to her senior group meetings, shopping with her girls and grandchildren, and hitting the casino. Family was everything to Joyce. She enjoyed holidays, cooking Sunday meals, and attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Joyce loved sharing memories of her childhood as the double dutch star, telling stories of gardening with her grandfather, and reminiscing about her life in the Bronx. She bestowed many great life lessons and influenced us all to be better people. She was a role model who led by example and loved deeply. Joyce touched so many and will be missed by all.
Joyce had many blessings. Among them were her four children: Carol Furey (Bill) of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Thomas Lynch Jr. (Lisa) of Stony Point, NY, Theresa Albrecht (Scott) of Mahwah, NJ, and Kelly Ann Kelly (Chris) of New City, NY. Her grandchildren were her treasures: Kerry Stancarone (Joe), Patrick Furey (Diana), Thomas Lynch III (Jackie), Olivia, and Tierney Lynch, Scotty, Brittney, Trevor, Tatum and Hunter Albrecht, Corinne, Caroline, Peyton, Brady and Lyla Jane Kelly. Her four great grandchildren brought her continuous joy; TJ and Briella Stancarone and Reagan and Ryder Furey.
In addition, Joyce is survived by her sister Judith Gormely (Tom) and her brother in law, Donald Tigue. She is predeceased by her husbands Thomas Lynch Sr. and Richard Tigue; her parents Phyllis and Edward Kalinowski and many other loved ones. Her son Thomas Lynch went before her in 2021 leaving her heartbroken.
