June Lee Tarangelo, born in Bronx, NY on October 9, 1931, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, on May 21 2026. June was a longtime resident of New City, NY and more recently Myrtle Beach, SC. She was predeceased in death by her loving and deeply devoted husband of 67 years, Carmine and her oldest child Stephen Tarangelo, of Raleigh, NC.
She is survived by her three remaining children Dr. Gary Tarangelo (Dianne), Joanne Jacaruso (Robert), Dr. Anne Marie Tarangelo Spallanzani (John) and daughter in-law Pamela Tarangelo. She is also survived by nine grandchildren (David Tarangelo, Natalie, Nicholas and Sara Tarangelo; Robert and Joseph Jacaruso; Andrew, Matthew and James Spallanzani) and 7 great grandchildren (Leo, Luke, Noah, Amelia, Caleb, Julia and Nicholas).
June cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, whose lives she greatly impacted. Visits with “Nana and Pop” in Myrtle Beach were the highlight of every summer for the entire family. An amazing cook, she always loved to have family around to feed and entertain.
She wasn’t just known and loved for her culinary skills. More importantly, her strong, steadfast faith was an inspiration to all. Her boundless energy allowed her to focus on her family, but as a young busy mother, she was also driven to obtain an undergraduate degree in education, and passionately taught for many years. She accomplished all this while running a household and lovingly supporting her husband in his private business.
Retirement was not in her vocabulary! She continued to work, teaching at the college level and developing and running a bible study program at the local Catholic church. All the while, she continued her education, earning a Master’s degree in Learning and Education in 2013 at the age of 82 years young.
June’s zest and passion for life, her faith, her children, grandchildren and the many friends she made throughout life was unparalleled and leaves us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.
We are grateful for the time God shared her with us.
