Kumudbala Lakhani

Kumudbala Kanaiyalal Lakhani, 81 of New City, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 18, 2025.

She is survived by her two sons, daughter and her daughter-in-law and son-in-law, (Vipul, Hiten, Falguni, Nisha and Richard, respectively). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren who love her immensely (Shalini, Nikita, Nikhil, Dilan, Rajan, Akshay and Anaya). She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years Kanaiyalal Lakhani.

She cherished her time spent with family, cooking and playing cards especially with her grandchildren who all have made her very proud.

Kumudbala was born in Mombasa, Kenya to Devchand and Chancal Savadia on July 19, 1944. Kumudbala was the backbone of the Lakhani clan as she supported her husband’s entire family’s arrival to the U.S. and as the matriarch who made sure everyone was settled, fed and had a roof over their heads. Her dedication to her community was unparalleled. She was the first to go visit someone who was sick, and cook and clean for them. Her stamina, strength, intelligence and humor will be missed by all. The hole she has left behind cannot be filled.

On Thursday, October 23rd, a funeral will be held at 9:30- 11:30AM at Michael Higgins Funeral Home 321 South Main St, New City, NY 10956. Following at 12:30-1PM , the Cremation at Ferncliff Cemetery 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, NY 10530.
