Kuylen Fernandez Johnson Sr.

Kuylen Fernandez Johnson Sr., of New York City, passed away on March 10, 2026. He was 80 years old.

Kuylen was born in Kingston, Jamaica on September 27, 1945, to Hermine and Leonard Johnson. After completing high school, he joined the Jamaica Defense force. He later made his life in New York City, where he built a family and lasting relationships with those who knew and loved him.

In 1970, Kuylen married Hyacinth Kelly, and together they had two children.Later in life, he found love again with his longtime partner and fiancée, Marie Etheart, whom he met in 1996.Their relationship was filled with companionship, care, and shared years together.

He is survived by his children,Kuylen Johnson Jr.(Michelle Payne) and Nadia(Johnson)Patrick and her husband Wayne Patrick; his stepchildren, Christina Coston and her husband Andre Coston, and Deschamps Etheart. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kuylen (Alex), Akiyah, Kaliyah, and Saraya Johnson, and London and Adelaide Patrick, who brought him great pride and joy.

Kuylen is also survived by his brothers Adrian and Colin Virtue, and his sister Joan Hutton-Mills, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, US, on March 19, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 S Main St, New City, New York 10956, on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Germonds Presbyterian Cemetery, 39 Germonds Rd, New City, NY 10956, US, on March 20, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
