Lisa Barrea

Lisa Barrea of Chestnut Ridge passed away on September 21, 2016 with her family by her side, after a long battle with Dementia Lewy- Bodies. Lisa came to the United States in 1955 and was the youngest of 9 children. She lived in the Bronx prior to settling in Chestnut Ridge for 29 years.

Lisa married her husband Nicola in 1957 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking. Lisa was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who's greatest joy came from her family.

Lisa was predeceased by her husband, Nicola, in 2005. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Marie of Richmond, VA, her daughter Maria and husband Jerry Russo of Chestnut Ridge, NY, and her daughter Anna Carollo of Suffern, NY. Lisa is also survived by her 7 grandchildren; Nicole (Jeffrey), Salvatore Jr., Rosli (Vincent), Joseph (Brittney), Michael (Jenny), John, and Christopher, as well as her sister Rosina Carrozza of Italy. She was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.

Visiting will be held at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Sunday, September 25, from 12-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 26, at St. Anthony's Shrine in Nanuet at 10am, followed by interment at Ascension Cemetery in Monsey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lisa's memory to United Hospice of Rockland or Meals on Wheels.
