Lorene Mae Beckley

She was predeceased in 2008 by her beloved husband of 55 years, John W. Beckley. She was born June 4, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Michael and Anne (Adams) Zoloty. As a young child, she moved with her parents to Buffalo,NY where she attended St. James Elementary School and Kensington High School, graduating in 1948.

While in high school she met her classmate and lifelongsweetheart, John. They were married at St. Joseph Church in Buffalo on November 21, 1953. They lived at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma for a year until John’s discharge in 1954, when they returned to Buffalo and started a family.

In 1965 they moved with their 3 children to New City, NY when John received a business promotion in NYC. They raised their family together in New City, where they lived for 32 years,making many lifelong friends during that time. Lorene and her family were longtime parishioners of St. Augustine Church.

Lorene received her nursing degree from Rockland Community College in 1976, and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Dr. R. Yeager Health Center in Pomona, NY until her retirement in 1993.

In 1997, Lorene and John moved to Naples, Florida and lived in the Vineyards Country Club community. They enjoyed playing golf, relaxing poolside, and socializing with many new friends there. Lorene was proud of her “Hole in One” achievement in 2002, commemorated by a plaque from the Club.

Lorene moved back to New City after John passed away. She enjoyed spending time with her family and caught up with old friends she had missed while in Florida. She also attended the New City Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed lunches out with her Red Hat Society friends. Lorene is survived by her children, William (Jane) Beckley, Michael (Gail) Beckley, Karen (Richard) Douglas; her grandchildren, John (Kristen) Beckley, Matthew Beckley, Kevin (Lauren) Beckley, Ian Beckley, Gregory Douglas, Lauren Douglas; and her great granddaughters,Charlotte and Stella.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine's Parish, located at 140 Maple Ave, New City, NY, 10956, on August 22, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY, 10954.
